How Gems works

Tldr; spot good work, throw gems at it.

   Give gems

   Spot something great? Say so — in Slack:
   /gems +20 @teammate for saving the launch

   They get the gems. Everyone sees the love. Done.

2. 2

   Pile on

   Someone beat you to the shout-out? Tap ➕ Add to this, chuck in your own gems and a note. The more, the merrier.

3. 3

   Know your stash

   You get 300 gems a month to give away — spend 'em or lose 'em, they reset on the 1st. Gems you receive are yours to keep.

   Cake, on us

   Birthdays and work anniversaries get gems automatically. No calendars, no reminders — just show up and get spoiled. 🎂🎊

5. 5

   Climb the board

   Every gem you receive ranks you on the leaderboard — this month and all-time. There's a Most Generous board too, because givers deserve glory.

   One small print: company-gifted birthday and anniversary gems don't count toward the competitive leaderboard — that stays about peer recognition.

   Actual prizes

   Top 3 on the year-end board win a little something. Bragging rights thrown in, free of charge.

   Bigger things ahead

   Next year we're gunning for a budget to cash gems in for real stuff — swag and beyond. Translation: hoard nothing, give lots, thank us later.
